Drinks with Umbrellas

A bloggy friend of mine asked me to sip on an umbrella drink for her while I'm away on the cruise. I was already excited that its finally Friday, the weekend is finally here, but her mention of all drinks tropical really has me jittery. J and I pretty much checked out for the week this past Wednesday. I'm pretty useless to the office today.

Sunday is the wedding. Afterwards, we'll be setting sail to Costa Maya, Santo Tomas, Belize City and Cozumel. All I can think of is the warm sun on my skin, pina coladas, playing with Babers on our excursions, snorkeling and wearing flip flops every day. It feels like we just came back from our honeymoon and we're already heading to Mexico again. A friend of mine is planning her destination wedding in Mexico come this December, which we'll be attending, so it seems Mexico is already starting to become our thing.

I'll be out for a week but will definitely come back tanned, refreshed and inspired, with lots of pictures to share with you and hopefully some new ideas for my jewelry.

See you guys soon. Viva Mexico!

Five Dollar Fridays will resume

As most of you know, I'm leaving out this Sunday for a week long cruise. I was going to shut the shop down tonight but after many requests to leave it open, I've decided against closing it.

SO - the shop stays open. Five Dollar Friday is on tomorrow! Now, to keep the confusion down and so that I won't have to create invoices for you this time, I'm going to pre-price the items and place them in a section of their own. Of course, I'll label it Five Dollar Friday Section. You can just place the items in the cart and go forth with the purchase.

The deal still goes that you must purchase two or more items from my shop to receive them at just $5 each. And again, only the items I place in that section will apply.

Still working out the kinks girls... thanks for your patience. Also, right now my shop isn't nearly as full as I like it, so I'll be back with lots of inspiration from Mexico to create new pieces to stuff my lil shop silly at my return.

Five Dollar Fridays are HERE!

Hello lovelies!

I have a new, irresistable deal going on now. However, you MUST play by the rules if you want the discount! Meaning, this deal starts on FRIDAYS.

On Fridays only, if you purchase two or more items from my shop, you receive them at just $5 DOLLARS EACH! Yes, I'm crazy.

To receive this offer, place items in your cart and message me for an invoice reflecting the super discount!

Please note: all items in shop apply except for necklaces. Items must be placed in cart after midnight on Thursdays to receive the discount.

Local ladies: You can simply email me or message me through Facebook or Myspace with the items you want to purchase. Five Dollar Fridays are also taking place at Salon Trio in Central. Check out my stash of Jillry there as well!

- Please be aware that all of my items are one of a kind, with just a few exceptions, so this is first come first serve. I go by time on Etsy convos and emails. -

Also, if you're in town, I'm available on Five Dollar Fridays to drop by your office with my stash during lunch. With a full time job, I just can't seem to find the time to list every jewelry item I create, so I have a large stash of goodies just waiting to be worn.

Thanks for shopping! And, GOOD LUCK! :)

Blond Moment

(I can joke about that... I used to be one!)

So last week Babers and I met up for lunch. He had an amazing surprise for me: plans of our house. The one we will someday build together.

He had scaled the plans on a plain white sheet of paper, a rough draft but a beautiful draft to say the least. It had all the details he knew I would love: large walk-in closet, an office, a large patio with an indoor/outdoor fireplace, an open living room/kitchen floor plan... I couldn't stop staring at it.

We talked about how long it would take for us to build it and how many years we had ahead of us before we could start.

J's been looking at going back to school to become a civil engineer. It would be in the same field of work he's in now, just higher up on the totem pole with more interesting work and a fatter paycheck.

He told me that maybe we could start on it after he's been a civil engineer for a bit. After a few pay raises and years under our belts.

"You're so good at this," I told him, looking at the plans he drew, so many details, the scaling perfect.

"Civil engineer..." I thought outloud. "Maybe you should go into this. Too bad there's no such thing as a house plan engineer."

He stares at me. "You mean, an architect?" Eyebrows raised.

*shaking my head* Just another one of those moments I'm sure he lives for.

Back to Basics

In the early stages of my blog, you can see the amateurish nature of my posts. I simply wrote about what I loved, what I was going through, how I felt. My blog was my journal.

It seems lately, my blog has turned into something else. Though I'm not quite sure what it is, it doesn't feel like me anymore.

At the moment, I'm pooped. My love left the house early this afternoon and headed towards New Orleans with his brother in tow for his bachelor party. J and his groomsmen went to a Saints game for his bachelor party and now its his little brother's turn. Hornets basketball, being the game of choice this time around. While he's been gone I've taken advantage of "me" time. Cleaning house, washing my car, re-stocking my jewelry display at my sis's shop in town, editing bridal photos... finishing Twilight. *sigh* If I had not given the first book of the series to a friend to read, I may be sitting here starting the series over.

And likely my marriage would be heading towards a premarture divorce...

It was when I started the last book that I noticed the difference. My craving, my addiction to one thing - blogging - was replaced by another - reading. I read over 100 pages the first night I started the series. And then I found myself pulling the book out in the mornings to read with breakfast, and at really long stoplights on the way home from work. I KNOW!! It was embarrassing.

And then today, before J left, he said he missed my blogging. It was then that I went back to the time when my blogging meant something personal to us.

In the beginning, when me and J ran into each other after all those years and fell in love, I documented a lot of my feelings and the little things that made me crazy about him. The sweet things he did for me, how he made me laugh, being Twitterpated...

Eventually, I gave him my blog url. Sitting across from him in my apartment, sneaking peeks watching him read the posts I wrote about him made my heart open up more. I was amazed. It seemed that while I felt I could not love him any more, or possibly any better than I was loving him at the moment, the look in his eyes and the appreciation of the posts I wrote about us, about him, proved that this blog was just another tool to showing him how much I love him.

Hearing him subtly whine this morning about missing my posts reminded me of what I used to love about my blog. Getting everything out of my head on "paper", sharing my feelings, showing him what he means to me in another form. Sure, telling someone you care, or that you enjoyed your night out with them is one thing. But seeing that on screen, in a journal-like context... its just different. And I think he feels the same way about that.

So I'm back to basics. I'm writing about what I feel, what I love. This is my journal. I'll write when the mood strikes and I won't feel guilty if I miss a few days. I'll continue to read my favorite blogs but won't feel guilty if I miss a week of them. I want to appreciate this blog like I used to.

And I want to tell my husband I miss him. Terribly. I'm sitting on our couch, eh hmm, our NEW couch, wishing you were laying all over it with me. Its too large for little ole me and I need your monkey limbs to help fill it.

The Mini Monster misses you too. She has run in here with her jingle jangle collar looking for you a handful of times already. I tell her you'll be back, Don't worry. I can tell she doesn't believe me. She won't potty for me, apparantly it's y'all's thing, so I hope she hasn't left any surprises around the house.

I expect you home in just a few hours. And like usual when you're with the boys, you'll have one too many and will come home even more affectionate than you are usually. I'm counting on that.

We're not breaking up.

I know I've been absent lately. Know how when you're too busy on the weekends you may cut out the dusting or leave the dishes in the dishwasher? Well, I've just been cutting out blogging lately and I think its doing me some good.

Don't get me wrong, I miss writing and reading, but there's just so much on my plate lately with all the custom orders I've been receiving, along with being a good new sister in law, wife, daughter, etc.

I'm almost done with the bridal jewelry for my sis-in-law to be. That's a HUGE weight that will be lifted. While I love custom orders, I also feel very married to the process and therefore do nothing but eat, sleep and dream it, and whether or not the bride will love the pieces.

Well, she did love them, so yay! Along with that, this Saturday I was out the house at 8:30 am with a quick kiss from my patient hubby and an armful of camera. We took the bride's bridal shots at Rosedown. We had a great time and I took a total of 291 photos. So you see, I'll be editing those for the next week. Which of course, I love to do but man is it time consuming!

Back home at 2pm and then back out again at 6pm for the bride's last night as a single woman!

While the plans that supposedly were in place failed: a supposed limo, a supposed reservation for dinner - we were still in great moods and had a blast. And with my SIL-to-be's consent, Babers came out to meet us. So I got some much needed blues music and dancing with my love in.

All in all a very fun but very exhausting weekend. I think I may be getting old. ;)

I'll be posting photos soon. I'm not going away forever. There are three weeks before the wedding/cruise, and I'm going to cut myself some slack. Take a break. Go for a walk. Blog when I can. Finish up my orders and sit back with the last book of the Twilight series. Cuddle with my loving husband. You know the drill.

Seriously do miss you guys. I'll be in the shadows, reading you when I have time. I hope you don't forget about me in the meantime. Kiss kiss!
