Ten Ways to Know its Time to Go

I was browsing today on Yahoo when I came across this article, "Ten Ways to Know its Time to Go". I was amazed at how many of these I felt before quitting my "career" in association management. Read on and see if its time for YOU to quit.

Ten Ways to Know its Time to Go

1. You start to dread Monday as soon as you leave work on Friday.

2. It becomes more and more difficult to get up for work each day, and tardiness becomes a way of life.

3. You cannot muster enthusiasm for anything related to work -- other than your paycheck.

4. You spend most of your time complaining to colleagues or about your colleagues.

5. You act defensive and even hostile in company meetings when there's little cause for it.

6. You interact less and less with co-workers, shutting yourself away in your office and avoiding opportunities to socialize.

7. You've used up all your sick, personal, and vacation days -- and the year isn't even half over.

8. You're constantly putting off until tomorrow what you could (and should) do today. When you do actually commit to doing your work, you feel resentful.

9. You're bitter about the company's success or that of a co-worker.

10. You have no professional goals related to your job, and you have a hard time even making some up at your obligatory performance review.

I say we make it a total of 20 ways you know it's time to go..,

11. Poverty and living in a box doesn't look so bad since you don't have to go to work the next day.

12. Eating starts to look over rated when you think of the reasons you're working in the first place.

13. Eating becomes an escape along with alcohol, crack, and sex to keep you from thinking about the 'job'.

14. You start to understand why people go postal and have an urge to purchase firearms.

15. You take a martial art class not for health, self defense, or mental development. You want to develop yourself into a dangerous container of whoop ass to open at someone at work.

16. You tend to blog more.

17. You wish you had a full moon screen saver on your pc that'll activate your werewolf curse so you can maul certain people at work.

18. You start stealing more office supplies.

19. You take a leak in the boss' coffee cup.

20. You're reading an extra 10 reasons it's time to go when 1 reason is more than enough.

Thats how I felt about my last job...all those things plus uncontrollable rage and thoughts of mass murder! I am happy in my current job though!

God, like eight of those are hits on me. I do like the people I work with, but God, I hate my job. I like the money, but that is it! If I obey that, though, that would be one hell of a pay cut. Oh well, hating something isn't too bad.

Great article though.

That's a good list, fortunately things are fine in this neck of the woods but I know a few people who would probably put a checkmark every one of those.

I recognize all of these things! The sad thing is, I work for myself, at home.

I suck.
