movies for kelly

Kelly made a comment about loving the movie Garden State in one of her most recents posts, to which I had to excitedly squeal "Me too!" Being that I was at work, a few nearby coworkers came running to see what imaginery friend I was squealing at this time.

I promised Kelly I would send her a list of some of my *Must See Movies*, so here I am doing just that. Now, before you movie snobs go tearing through my list, huffing at this choice and making fun of another, please note that these movies are in my own opinion "movies that females with similiar personalities and likes of my own would enjoy seeing."

Kel, hope you enjoy. I'd love to hear which ones of these you've already seen.

My Must See Movies

  • Closer - Natalie Portman is just captivating in this movie.

  • Marie Antoinette (for the beautiful cinematography more than anything)

  • Garden State - again, Natalie Portman. So effing cute I wish I could stick her in my pocket to carry with me all day.

  • Office Space

  • Pride & Predjudice

  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

  • Fight Club - the first movie Babers ever bought me.

  • Playing by Heart - (slow at first, but stay with it, it'll give you a tear or two and a lot of smiles)

  • How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days - Just hilarious. I rewind certain parts where Kate Hudson is being obnoxious, to play over and over again. And Matthew McConaughey ain't so bad to look at either.

  • Into the Wild - Raw, beautiful. A harrowing but necessary movie to see.

  • Braveheart - This is an oldie but goodie that I watched over and over with my parents growing up. Just never gets old.

  • Dances with Wolves - Ditto with this. But its looonnngg, so if you aren't into calm, slow movies with not a whole lot of conversation, don't watch it. (But you'll be missing out.)

  • A Beautiful Mind

  • Amercian Beauty

  • The Pianist - Another beautiful picture.

  • Juno - This one knocked my socks off. I don't remember being this witty and clever as a young teen.

  • Gladiator

  • Great Expectations

Some I felt didn't need explanation. I think I'm going to put a few of these on me and J's Blockbuster online to view again.

What are YOUR must sees?

I've seen most of those movies. Well, maybe not all the chick flicks. ;-)

I listed like 100 movies once on my blog when someone was asking what movies she needed to see to "catch up." I like a lot of old movies too. TCM is awesome!

That's a cool post Jill. I haven't seen all of those - so thanks for the recommendation. I think Natalie Portman is brilliant in 'Closer' too. x

I LOVED CLOSER!

I also loved Dances With Wolves! I have to admit, I didn't understand ESOTSM, but I didn't see the beginning so that might explain it.

Some of my must-sees? The Wedding Singer, The Magdalene Sisters, Nell, V for Vendetta, and this Kevin Costner movie with Anthony Quinn that I can't remember the title to but it's wonderful!

I can relate a whole lot more to your list than I can hers... but seriously, Juno was one of the lamest movies of 2008. It makes no difference that I'm about the only person on the planet who think that, btw.

Jay - Well I'll have to mosey on over to your place and see your list. I'm a movie junkie lately and could use a good fix myself.

KItty - She is, isn't she? Watch Garden State if you get a chance. Its a little different but she's adorable in it.

Rox - ESOTSM - watch it again. I watched it 3 times before I started to fully "get" it, and I still don't really so I'm sure I'll be watching it again. LOVED Nell. Can watch it over and over. V for Vendetta is a good one too!

Jay - I know a guy that doesn't like it, it happens. Don't beat yourself up about it. *snort*

Kelly - go figure we've seen all of the same. See Juno! Its so great! I own it and watch it ever so often. The lines are so funny, def quotable.

Ashley - Oooh forgot about that one! My hubs would be disappointed in me. And yes, Office Space rocketh.

Braveheart and Gladiator, brilliant epic films; XLNT choices along with American Beauty and A Beautiful Mind.

The one I would add to this list is Wonder Boys, a total sleeper that bombed miserably at the box office; yet Loaded with mega stars in the cast. No details, but it's my favourite movie and those who have watched it loved it.

Cheers
